Lisa Currin is a lecturer in the Department of Psychology and has worked in academia for 20 years. She is currently the programme coordinator for the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology programme. Her research areas cover Health Psychology, Neuropsychology, Developmental Psychology and Animal Assisted Therapy Interventions. She has successfully supervised 27 Masters treatises and dissertations and 32 Honours students’ research projects and is currently supervising the research of various postgraduate honours and master’s students. Lisa has been invited to externally examine the work of various postgraduate master’s students at several universities throughout South Africa and has also been invited to review journal articles for various peer-reviewed journals as well as provide book reviews for publishers. She has also presented research papers at both national and international research conferences.

As a registered Counselling Psychologist, Lisa is passionate about the field of psychology and is very involved with the training of student psychologists and intern psychologists in the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology programmes in the Department. She has mentored and supervised more than 50 student psychologists and intern psychologists over the years, providing weekly individual clinical supervision, as well as weekly group supervision sessions. Her teaching focus at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels is in the area of Neuropsychology. In addition to this, she also teaches the Masters’ students about the integration of psychometric assessments particularly related to developmental and educational issues.
